Regarding the extension, it’s unclear how Porzingis’ injury impacts the timing of the Knicks’ offer. Prior to the ACL tear, the Knicks likely felt comfortable offering Porzingis the extension this summer. Now, they might follow the blueprint the Philadelphia 76ers established with Joel Embiid and construct a contract that is incentivized based on health.
It’s also unclear if the bad blood between the organization and Porzingis from the summer of 2017 is still a factor at this point, but the Knicks are optimistic that all parties have moved forward and are on the same page. Porzingis has said that he’ll address his feelings on the extension at the appropriate time but wants to remain in New York.
They will be in the Baker Mayfield market, but with the contract given to Alex Smith, the Redskins might be more inclined to draft a passer on Day 2 than spend an early pick on one. (Look for Mason Rudolph to be an option.) Smith can be the playmaking linebacker they need on defense.
Kevin King is a long-term answer on one side at cornerback, but the Packers still could use another high-end CB, especially with wide receivers in the division posing trouble. Ward is the 2018 draft’s best true cornerback.
The draft’s second best interior offensive lineman (after Quenton Nelson), Price is still worthy of a top-20 overall pick. He can plug in at center or either guard spot and can be an immediate benefit to their next quarterback.
If the Thunder had a slightly better record at this point of the season and hadn’t struggled as much as they did out of the gate, Westbrook’s case would be a lot more convincing.
It’s sort of a surprise that OG Anunoby is even playing basketball right now.
This time last year, Anunoby was recovering from having surgery on his right knee to repair the torn ACL he suffered 16 games into his sophomore season at Indiana. He was regarded as a potential lottery pick at the time some outlets had him going as high as No. 7 in the 2017 NBA Draft in the weeks leading up to his injury but the possibility of him missing his entire rookie season in the NBA while he continued to rehab was enough to scare off a number of teams.
